PRC launches a series of ads on WOPR

December 20, 2007 - For Immediate Release -- (Eugene, OR) Pacific Rivers Council (PRC) today launched a series of radio ads in western Oregon, highlighting serious risks to watersheds posed by the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Western Oregon Plan Revision (WOPR). The WOPR is currently open for public comment through January 11.
"The WOPR is an attempt to increase harmful logging on public lands at the expense of clean water, salmon and the overall health of our watersheds," said John Kober, PRC's executive director. "The WOPR proposes to increase timber harvest by reducing river protections. More logging will mean more destructive floods and landslides. Our rivers and streams need more protection, not less."
Pacific Rivers Council, founded in 1987, is dedicated to protecting and restoring rivers, their watersheds, and native aquatic species.
