The Oregon Teachers’ Energy Resource
Solar Energy and Energy Conservation Curriculum for Oregon Schools
The Oregon Teachers’ Energy Resource was developed to meet the National Science Education Standards call to include energy education in the science curriculum for K-12 schools. It is designed to give educators the tools they need to introduce their classroom to the role of energy in our daily lives, the importance of saving energy, and the basics of renewable energy resources. All of the lesson plans, presentations, and activities contained in the Oregon Teachers’ Energy Resource meet National and/or Oregon & California Science Educational Benchmarks.
The Oregon Teachers’ Energy Resource is available in notebook form at the Solar Oregon and the Eastern Oregon Renewable Energies non-profit (EORenew). The notebook includes a Table of Contents and the following three CD’s: Energy for Keeps provided by the Bonneville Power Administration; Get Smart about Energy provided by the U.S. Department of Energy; and Oregon Teachers’ K-12 Energy Resource provided by Solar Oregon and EORenew. The notebook is available to all Oregon schools at no charge, although we do ask that it is shared within the greater education community.
The Oregon Teachers’ Energy Resource project was funded by the Million Solar Roofs program of the U.S. Department of Energy. Production assistance was provided by the Bonneville Power Administration.
