Welcome to a wild summer. An Oregon Wild Summer to be exact. This year, Oregon Wild is taking our successful "Wilderness Week" event from years past and turning it into an all summer long wild ride. The festivities will run throughout the summer.
Along with our conservation allies across the state, we'll be hosting over 30 hikes and events in such amazing places as the Wild Rogue, Boulder Lake on Mount Hood, and Lookout Mountain east of the Cascades.
Sign up for Oregon Wild Summer events here.
We're going to be taking you to see towering old-growth forests, pristine rivers and majestic waterfalls. Oregon Wild Summer will feature family hikes, camp-outs, fishing trips, and loads of fun.
See a full list of the outings here. (sorted by area)
All of our hikes will be free of charge and led by expert conservationists. All trips will be led or shepherded by First-Aid trained staff.
And if you happen to snap the perfect picture on one of our hikes, enter it in our fourth annual photo contest.
After a summer full of fun, we'll cap the season off by bringing back an Oregon Wild tradition. On the weekend of September 19-21 Oregon Wild will host a camp-out at Waldo Lake, southeast of Eugene. For years in the 1980s veteran Oregon Wild staffer Wendell Wood hosted dozens (if not hundreds) of folks at campsites on the pristine shores of Waldo. These events served as meeting places for those who cared about Oregon's wild places to come and enjoy the outdoors, buoy their spirits with fellow conservationists, and have a good old time.
With all of the fun they had back then, we figured it would be a shame not to bring it back. So, after you join us on a hike sometime during the summer, reserve a spot for your tent at Waldo Lake in September.
Let's make it an Oregon Wild Summer.
