Northwest Earth Institute staff and volunteers join hundreds of small groups of people together across the country each year to promote discussion and make daily life changes toward a healthier, more sustainable planet.

Courses currently offered:

MENU FOR THE FUTURE: A six-session course that explores the connection between food and sustainability. *NEW!!*

GLOBAL WARMING: CHANGING CO2URSE: A four session course exploring the history and science of climate change, personal values and habits as they relate to global warming, and personal actions to curb its effects.

CHOICES FOR SUSTAINABLE LIVING: A nine session course exploring the meaning of sustainable living and the ties between lifestyle choices and their impacts on the earth. 

VOLUNTARY SIMPLICITY: An eight session course addressing the personal and environmental benefits of simplifying our modern lives. 

     HEALTHY CHILDREN – HEALTHY PLANET: An eight session course that discusses how the pervasive effects of advertising, media, and our consumer culture can influence a child’s view of the world. 

     DISCOVERING A SENSE OF PLACE: A nine session course focusing on knowing and protecting the local land where we live.

     DEEP ECOLOGY: A nine session course which discusses the interconnectedness of all life and how values affect the way we view and treat the earth.

     GLOBALIZATION AND ITS CRITICS: A nine session course exploring how global trade affects the environment, local economies, and social and cultural customs throughout the world.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS: In addition to discussion courses, we also bring national speakers on earth centered and sustainable topics to Oregon, offer Home Eco-Parties and have a High School Earth Club program.
