Stephen Gomez joins BTA board

The NAU founder brings expertise and passion to his new role

Press Release

The BTA is very pleased to announce that Stephen Gomez has joined the Board. A long time cyclist who has played a strong part in helping advance cycling, Stephen comes with an impressive résumé that includes experience in marketing, management, organizational development and business startups. As corporate vice president of Nike's global apparel business in the mid-1990s, he played a significant role in the growth of annual sales from $600M to $3.1B during that period, and served on a variety of corporate committees, including brand management, human resources, and finance. Following his time at Nike, Stephen was a working partner at Serratto, a highly-regarded Italian restaurant in Portland, and served as a director on the board of Outlast Technologies, a technology startup in Boulder, Colorado. Stephen is currently a director and chairman of the board of Nau, Inc., the Portland-based outdoor lifestyle and performance apparel startup.

He also brings a wealth of experience in the nonprofit sector, where he was a founding director and board president of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metropolitan Portland, and served on the boards of B.I.K.E. and Cycle Oregon. In addition to his new position on the BTA board, Stephen also serves as president of the board of New Avenues for Youth where he has been a director since 2000. In his life outside the offices and boardrooms, Stephen describes himself as "a dedicated athlete and an avid cyclist, runner and yoga practitioner."

Needless to say, we're excited to have someone with Stephen's experience and energy join us. Welcome aboard!
