Who hasn't dreamed of going on a wildlife-viewing safari to sub-Saharan Africa? Using African Wildlife Federation's Safari Planner site, you can find resources that will help you gather information in designing your own African safari.

Spend an afternoon at a local nature site, take a day trip to one of Oregon's special places, or go on a multi-day international trip with the Audubon Society of Portland!  There are even special camps and programs for kids.

Friends of the Columbia Gorge's 2006 outings will include more than 15 hikes and special events for hikers and Gorge enthusiasts of all ages and fitness levels. RECON is The Ocean Conservancy's coral reef monitoring program that trains recreational divers to observe and record valuable information about current conditions at selected coral reefs.  Our volunteers gather information about the state of our reefs in Florida, the Bahamas, Colombia (San Andres & Old Province), Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. No need to leave Oregon to enjoy the summer, check out Oregon Natural Resource Council's list of fun hiking excursions. For the adventurous backpacker, use the Interactive Oregon Wild Outdoor Exploration Database. This database cross-references every exploration in every significant and in-print outdoor guide (hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoe, canoeing and rafting) and the 32 areas proposed for Wilderness designation in Oregon Wild. It contains over 2,000 records covering over 50 outdoor recreation guides.

Use Surfrider's great resource when planning a trip to the beach to keep yourself and those you love out of polluted waters.  Surfrider recommends checking Rashguard's water quality reports for polluted runoff status (updated hourly) plus the latest government sanctioned water quality test results.  It monitors seven sites in Oregon, and dozens more around the nation.
