Small Business Owner Finds Her Way to Go Green

Jen Bode, Licensed Massage Therapist and owner of Northwest Portland’s Equilibria Massage & Skin Care, is thankful for her business’ success. For Jen, success means making charitable contributions to local organizations that are working on conservation and sustainability issues. She found Earth Share of Oregon the ideal choice for her charitable giving because it financially supports 68 local and national environmental conservation organizations.

“I feel that it is becoming more important for individuals and businesses to focus on the environment,” says Jen Bode. “There may be other independent contractors, practitioners and small business owners who want to make charitable contributions to benefit Oregon’s environment—but don’t know how. By donating a percentage of my profits, I can accommodate the ups and downs of running a small business.”

Jen is excited about giving to Earth Share of Oregon, saying that it adds something very important to her business. By creating a prominent display in her reception area, she hopes to bring environmental awareness to her clients, too. Her colleagues at Equilibria appreciate working for an establishment that considers the environment an important priority. “For successful small business owners, it is important to think about how you want to give back,” Jen says. “Find what is close to your heart.”
