It's a big problem -- but your small actions can tackle

Global Warming -- it seems like such a big topic, one that makes us wonder what any one person can do to make a difference?
Plenty.
Several Earth Share groups are heavily focused on this critical topic. National Wildlife Federation says, “Unless we reduce the pollution that causes global warming, temperatures could climb between 2-10 degrees Fahrenheit this century.” They offer a readable overview of the crisis and stories from real people about what they have seen change.
USPIRG (US Public Interest Research Group) provides a list of 10 things you can do now to fight global warming – easy things like using energy efficient light bulbs and planting trees.
Audubon Society offers an additional list of solutions that you can implement in your everyday world. For a broad-based, scientific explanation of the serious challenge that global warming is, Union of Concerned Scientists lays out a thorough overview of the science and the solutions.
Here are 10 ways that you can combat global warming.
- Use public transit, carpool, walk or ride a bike.
- Purchase energy efficient appliances.
- Weatherize your home.
- Buy green – from local and national companies that are taking steps to curb their contribution to greenhouse gases.
- Push your state and the US government for stricter fuel-efficiency standards for passenger cars.
- Write to your newspaper – express your ideas about fighting global warming.
- Buy renewable energy – if your power company offers “green”, buy it.
- Minimize your trash; recycle everything that you possibly can.
- Write to national decision-makers; add your voice along with others.
- Reduce fuel consumption; if you must drive, keep your vehicle well tuned and tires full.
